Stringjoy Broadways 9-46 Pure Nickel Electric Guitar Strings
Back in the mid-â50s to late â60s, electric guitar string sets were almost exclusively wound using a pure nickel wrap wire and in some instances, you may have seen this referred to as âvintage nickelâ.
Stringjoy have harked back to yesteryear and produced a string that not only nods to days gone by but also satisfies the demands of the more modern player too, âmodern vintageâ if you will.
Their Broadways range starts with a thinner, round core wire. Both of these elements help to give these strings a wonderful flexibility whilst still maintaining a healthy dose of durability and tuning stability. They are then wrapped with a pure nickel wrap wire that contains more nickel than the typical ânickel plated steelâ sets that we most commonly see today. Coupled with their very own unique string winding techniques, this produces a lovely full, warm tone. Whilst these may have vintage vibes theyâll be sure to please any player.

Who are Stringjoy?
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Stringjoy are a burgeoning string manufacturer committed to great customer service and caring about putting quality products in their customer's hands. Despite being a young company in comparison to some of the bigger brands, these guys are making big waves and really know their stuff when it comes to strings.
Formed in 2014, Stringjoy was first created after owner Scott Marquart began putting together his very own custom gauge sets. Frustrated at not being able to create his own sets without having to buy several sets off the shelf and cherry-pick only a few singles from each set, Scott sought out a different solution and in the process created his very own string company, Stringjoy.Â
Now, if youâre thinking that Stringjoy are just another string brand, youâd be wrong. They are not in the business of creating as many sets as they possibly can. Instead, their strings are made in small batches by a modestly sized in-house team dedicated and focused purely on producing the best quality strings they can possibly make. Their mantra is âquality, not speed.â Â
Each string is made one at a time under scrupulous supervision by a human being at every stage of the process - all the way from securing the ball end to the core wire to packing the strings in their boxes. Stringjoy profess that making their strings relies on the skills of only the very best trained string winders insisting âwinding a perfect string is an art.â
Not content with producing any old set of strings, Stringjoy have a very high-quality control with every string individually inspected from end to end before it makes its way into the box and onto your guitar. Any slight imperfection and the string doesnât make the cut. Simple as!
Their sets are already extremely popular over in the USA with highly regarded players such as Joey Landreth and Ariel Posen being big advocates.
